Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner in General Surgery

Job description

Position: Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner in General Surgery, based at Furness General Hospital. The successful applicant will complete the ACP course at a master's level offered by a local university.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct, high‐level clinical care with a focus on governance and education.

Work across all UHMB hospital sites (Furness General Hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Westmorland General Hospital) and related community premises, traveling as required.

Build and maintain working relationships with the General Surgery team, multidisciplinary staff, consultants, and specialist nurses.

Initiate, sustain, and evaluate change initiatives and service development plans.

Operate at the level outlined in the HEE Multi‐professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice (2017) emphasising the four pillars: clinical, leadership/management, education, and research/audit.

Lead and develop nursing practice to promote high‐quality services across the patient pathway.

Provide expert practice through leadership, consultation, clinical advice, teaching, and support for staff.

Contribute to research and audit activities as part of service development.

Qualifications & Experience

Expert nurse in general surgery with demonstrated leadership and curriculum development experience.

Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant clinical experience.

Strong communication, teaching, and change‐management skills.

Willingness to travel between the main hospital sites and community facilities.
