We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and motivated Consultant Radiologist with a sub-speciality interest in urological imaging to join our existing team
This post is to enable us to deliver a sustainable and high quality service, support the growing needs of faster diagnosis standards and improve turnaround times, while delivering comprehensive diagnostic urology and general radiology services to West London. The post will be based at The Hammersmith Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and community diagnostic centres in west London depending on need.
The successful applicants should have completed training in diagnostic radiology and be within 6 months of their CCT. They should have a specialist interest in urology imaging.
Main duties of the job
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust a tertiary referral centre for urology in both benign and malignant disease. This is a 1.0 WTE locum consultant post. The successful candidate will have sub-speciality skills in urological imaging and will be expected to contribute to the delivery of a combination urological and general radiology.
In addition to the sub-specialist programmed activities, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the general work of the department including general oncology and acute cross-sectional imaging with some experience in major trauma reporting desirable. Inpatient and emergency workload are key priorities and the post holder will be expected to contribute to the “hot desk”, general CT, MR, US and plain films, delivered by the large consultant team across 7 days, this includes a daytime duty rota, scheduled but infrequent and flexible sessions at weekends and also extended weekdays.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will have completed formal training in urology imaging and will be able to provide expert radiological input to patients with urological conditions. The candidate will need to work closely with the current team, urologists, oncologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high quality patient care across our three sites. They should have experience in reporting US, CT and MR imaging of the renal tract and prostate and will be expected to participate in the weekly urology MDT meetings on a rotational basis. Experience in a tertiary urology MDT setting is desirable.
The successful candidate will be expected to make a strong contribution to teaching and training within our department. Our radiology training scheme is highly regarded, with approximately 65 trainees currently in post, many in sub‑specialty training. The appointee will be expected to play an active role in trainee supervision both clinical and non‑clinical.
A research background would be welcomed and there will be opportunities to develop and support research activity within the department.
The applicants must hold a CCT in Clinical Radiology (or equivalent) and be on the GMC Speciality Register, or be within 6 months of being granted a CCT. Candidates with appropriate accreditation in radiology who wish to work only part‑time or on a sessional basis are encouraged to apply, as are applicants interested in job‑sharing.

Qualifications
- On GMC’s register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration and a Licence to Practice
- On GMC’s Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the register by the date of the interviews or eligible for specialist registration
- Appropriate Royal College Membership with FRCR
Knowledge
- Formal subspecialty training in Urology imaging with the ability to provide high quality reporting of urology US, CT and MR with specific experience in the use of PI-RADS prostate reporting systems
- Able to report general CT, MR and US
- Experience in acute cross-sectional imaging
- Ability to lead the imaging component for speciality MDT
- IT Skills and computer literacy
- Able to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authority
- Have proven skills in leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of colleagues.
- Knowledge of finance/budgets
- Management of staff
Teaching & Training
- Experience of teaching and training undergraduates/post‑graduates and junior medical staff
Audit
- Understanding of principles of clinical audit
- Track record in performing audit
Academic achievements
- Evidence of achievement appropriate to appointment at consultant level at ICHT
Language
- Are able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements
