Job Title
Consultant Radiologist – General Radiology with interest in Head & Neck and Neuro imaging.
Contract and Working Arrangements
Self‑Adjudicating post; must liaise and work across the two main hospital sites – Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital – with an on‑call commitment at the West Middlesex site.
The 10 PA contract comprises 8.5 DCC sessions and 1.5 SPA sessions. The job plan is currently a four‑day week and may change to accommodate future extended service requirements across the Trust.
Full secretarial and administrative support will be provided by the Imaging Department’s PA team. A dedicated office space within the radiology department will be available.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- The post holder must adhere to GMC standards for Good Medical Practice.
- Develop and maintain competencies required for the role.
- Ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care programmed activities.
- Involve patients in decisions about their care and respond to their views.
- Model and encourage Trust values at all times with all patients and staff.
- Provide high‑quality teaching to medical undergraduates and other NHS professionals.
- Act as a clinical supervisor and appraiser as delegated by the Clinical Director/Service Lead.
- Collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance research/audit portfolios, sustaining research governance.
- Maintain mandatory training up to date as per Trust policy.
- Fully participate in continuing professional development, including application to the study leave budget and undertaking non‑clinical training at discretion of management.
Clinical Activities
- Report body CT and general MRI.
- Report Head & Neck and Neuro CT/MRI.
- Perform Head & Neck ultrasound and US‑guided FNA/biopsy.
- Participate in the Head & Neck monthly MDT and selected neuro MDTs.
- Cover diagnostic on‑call rota for the West Middlesex site (frequency approximately 1 in 16).
Performance Management
- Collaborate with medical, nursing and managerial colleagues to ensure high performance.
- Engage in financial management, including cost‑improvement programmes.
- Drive operational efficiency: day‑case rates, waiting‑list activity and demand management.
Medical Staff Management and Accountability
- Adhere to Trust guidelines on leave and ensure team members do the same.
- Participate in the recruitment and induction of junior medical staff as delegated.
- Set team objectives as part of the annual job‑planning cycle.
- Engage fully in departmental activities, including meetings and team‑building activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Full GMC registration.
- Relevant CCT or equivalent; equivalence confirmed by PMET/GMC with AAC.
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register or eligible within 6 months.
- Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR).
- Higher degree and additional related qualifications (e.g., BSc, BA).
- Experience in teaching medical trainees and other NHS professionals.
- Understanding of Good Medical Practice principles.
- Experience in general ultrasound, MRI reporting and interventional procedures.
- Experience in audit, clinical governance and quality control in radiology.
- Experience interpreting thoracic, paediatric and soft‑tissue imaging.
- Knowledge of business planning and hospital contracting.
- Management training and commitment to continuous professional development.
Essential Requirements
- Specialist register on GMC or within 6 months of CCT.
- Will start within 3 months of interview.
- Flexible working arrangements are accommodated where possible.

- Employment is subject to a six‑month probationary period.
