The role

Main duties of the job

The Early Intervention Service (EIS) covers the whole of Lancashire and is organised into three teams – North, Central, and East. This post supports the Central Lancashire team. The service provides comprehensive assessment and management for people aged 14 to 64 with first‑episode psychosis (FEP) and at‑risk mental state (ARMS). Key responsibilities include:

  • Clinical lead responsibility for decision‑making within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Managing care for young people aged 16 and over who are accepted for care within the Central Lancashire EIS team.
  • Participating on the Consultant On‑Call rota (additional remuneration applies).
  • Working collaboratively with other Consultants and senior staff to deliver high‑quality care.

Applicants must hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist Register of the GMC or be eligible to enter the Specialist Register within six months of the interview date. Approval under Section 12 and Approved Clinician Status (or eligibility to obtain it) is required at commencement.

Remuneration is set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract and will reflect previous experience.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Full GMC registration and Licence to Practice.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register (or within six months at the time of interview).
  • Section 12 approved.
  • Accepted Clinician (AC) status (or within six months at the time of interview).
  • Knowledge, skills and experience appropriate to the post.
