Job description
We are seeking a dynamic female support worker to provide support in everyday activities to
a lady in her early 50s with an acquired brain injury and complex needs, which includes a
metabolic condition, epilepsy and asthma.
Our client lives with her parents in the Rochdale area. She enjoys films and DVDs, crafts,
swimming and pottery. Our client needs an experienced and age-appropriate support
worker, who will support her to undertake the aforementioned activities.
Working under the supervision of the Case Manager and Team Leader, to be part of a
team providing support with everyday activities. Working as a member of a support team,
meeting the needs of the client as requested and in line with her Care Plan.
Full driving licence is essential: Support staff are required to drive the clients own vehicle
which is a manual car.
QUALIFICATIONS:
NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care and Care Certificate or equivalent is preferred.
Previous support worker experience is essential.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
To support the client with daily living tasks as outlined in the care plan.
To provide prompts to the client when necessary.
Medication administration.
To respect the clients family and work in partnership with them.
To be aware of the clients dietary needs and be confident in preparing/cooking bespoke meals.
To be aware of the clients overall health and to follow care plans and guidance.
To encourage and support the client to participate in activities in the home and community
To understand the importance of routine and to support the client to maintain her routine.
To drive the client in her own vehicle.
To attend medical appointments with the client, as required.
To always maintain the clients safety and well-being in accordance with risk assessments, care plan and direction, but to also use initiative where necessary.
To understand the clients psychological/emotional needs and to use appropriate strategies, as advised
To communicate and interact with the client in a way that is appropriate to her needs.
To complete daily reports and written/verbal handovers.
To attend regular 1:1 supervision with the Team Leader or Case Manager.
To attend staff meetings and training.
