Chess Coach, Lead and Assistants

LearnChess Academy is looking for a Chess Coach, Lead and Assistants

Job description

Chess Coach, Lead and Assistants

Flexible Hours | School Term Time | Rochester, Tonbridge, Maidstone and Bromley, SE London

About our company

LearnChess Academy helps primary and secondary school students develop valuable life skills through chess.

The role

Do you enjoy helping young people build confidence through learning? Can you turn your knowledge of chess into energising, memorable, creative and enjoyable coaching sessions?

LearnChess Academy is growing, and we are looking for Chess Coaches to deliver engaging sessions across Kent.

You will do much more than teach students how to play chess. You encourage independent thinking, creative problem-solving and resilience while making every session enjoyable and rewarding.

This is primarily a location-based role within schools and other coaching venues. A full UK driving licence is essential. Our online coaching platform provides a variety of useful teaching resources and supports online coaching opportunities, but these do not replace the need to travel.

We welcome applications from people interested in supporting Lead Coaches or developing their experience as Assistant Coaches.

Key Responsibilities and Candidate profile

· Deliver fun, interactive and well-structured chess lessons.

· Create a positive and well-managed learning environment.

· Observe and adapt sessions for different ages, abilities and learning styles.

· Help students develop their personal confidence and chess skills.

· Build positive relationships with students, parents and school staff.

· Supporting other coaches to share ideas and improve sessions.

· A current First Aid qualification or willingness to complete training.

· Chess knowledge equivalent to approximately 1000+ ELO or five years’ playing experience

The Benefits

· Flexible, part-time hours during school terms.

· Comprehensive coaching training and ongoing support.

· Access to online teaching resources and support materials.

· Branded uniform, coaching equipment and storage case.

· Opportunities to take on additional coaching sessions, special events and charity client

What’s next

Turn your chess knowledge into a rewarding role that helps young people think, learn and grow—apply today to join LearnChess Academy.

Note – schools and the law require you to provide evidence of an Enhanced DBS check, including the Children’s Barred List at the start of the recruitment process. LearnChess Academy will arrange subsequent renewals.
