We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our agency care home team on the Isle of Wight, covering Wootton, Ryde, and Newport. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents, supporting their daily needs, and supervising junior staff.
This Senior Healthcare Assistant position offers an opportunity to lead with compassion and professionalism, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all residents.
Duties include
- Deliver personalised care in accordance with individual care plans, ensuring residents' dignity and independence are maintained
- Supervise and support junior care staff, fostering a positive team environment through effective leadership
- Assist residents with daily activities such as mobility, personal hygiene, medication management, and meal preparation
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, including updates to care plans and incident reports
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care delivery
- Support residents' emotional well-being through companionship and engaging activities
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including infection control procedures
- Contribute to the organisation's training programmes by sharing expertise in senior care practices
Experience
As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you'll need:
- Previous experience working within a care home environment specialising in senior care
- Proven supervising experience demonstrating leadership skills within a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with creating and implementing care plans tailored to individual needs
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with residents, families, and team members
- Competence in using IT systems for documentation and reporting purposes
- Valid driving licence is desirable
