SEN Teaching Assistant - Aspiring Educational Psychologist
A fantastic, inclusive Primary School in Tower Hamlets is searching for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team in September 2026. This is the perfect opportunity for a graduate considering a future career in Educational Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Teaching, SEN or Child Mental Health.
This SEN Teaching Assistant role will see you supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, learning difficulties and Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs. You will work closely alongside experienced teachers, the SENCo, support staff and external professionals, gaining invaluable hands-on experience within a supportive primary school environment.
The school is specifically looking for academically strong graduates with a 1st Class or 2:1 degree from a reputable university, who are confident, compassionate and genuinely passionate about supporting children with SEN.

JOB DESCRIPTION
SEN Teaching Assistant
Aspiring Educational Psychologist
Supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 & KS2
Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and Speech & Language needs
Providing 1:1 and small group interventions
Working closely with class teachers, SENCo and external professionals
Supporting children academically, socially and emotionally
Helping pupils build confidence, communication and independence
Adapting support to meet each pupil's individual needs
Full-time, term-time only
September 2026 start
Long-term and full academic year position
£110 - £115 per day
Located in the Borough of Tower Hamlets
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Must hold a 1st Class or 2:1 degree from a reputable university
Strong academic background throughout education
Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable
Previous SEN, tutoring, mentoring or childcare experience would be beneficial
Passionate about SEN, child development and mental health
Patient, empathetic and proactive personality
Aspiring Educational Psychologist, Therapist, Teacher or SEN professional
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
Calm, resilient and nurturing approach
