Job description

Commercial Product Development Manager

6‑Month FTC | Part‑Time (21 hours) | Flexible Working | £55,000 Pro Rata (£33,000 PT)

We’re supporting a leading UK professional body as they recruit a Commercial Product Development Manager to help shape, strengthen and grow their commercial learning portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced product development specialist to build and embed a structured approach to new product creation within a respected membership organisation.

About the Role

The organisation delivers a wide range of governance‑focused learning and development solutions — from qualifications and certificates to short courses, CPD resources, digital learning and in‑house training. As they expand their commercial offering, they are seeking a strategic, commercially minded product professional to lead the development and lifecycle management of new products and services.

You’ll design and implement a robust product development framework, manage end‑to‑end product creation, collaborate with subject matter experts, and ensure products are aligned to market needs, commercial goals and professional standards.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on structure, stakeholder engagement and bringing commercially viable learning products to market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and embed a structured new product development process
  • Establish clear governance, stage‑gate reviews and evaluation frameworks
  • Lead full product lifecycle management — concept, business case, development, launch and continuous improvement
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality products on time and within budget
  • Build and manage a network of subject matter experts and industry contributors
  • Own and manage the commercial product portfolio, including performance monitoring and product roadmapping
  • Identify opportunities to enhance, retire or introduce products to maximise learner value and commercial return
  • Support go‑to‑market activity with product specifications, messaging and launch plans

Experience Required

  • Proven experience in product development or product management within a professional body, membership organisation, education, training or L&D environment
  • Track record of delivering new products from concept to launch
  • Experience managing a product portfolio and lifecycle
  • Strong project management capability, with experience delivering multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with SMEs, consultants or external contributors
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen and understanding of market analysis, customer needs and proposition development

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing capability
  • Confident communicator with exceptional written and verbal skills
  • Highly organised, able to work at pace and manage competing priorities
  • Results‑driven, proactive and commercially focused
  • Collaborative, credible and comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders

What’s on Offer

  • Flexible part‑time working pattern (21 hours per week)
  • 6‑month fixed‑term contract
  • £55,000 pro rata
  • Opportunity to shape a growing commercial portfolio within a respected professional organisation
  • A role with strategic influence and high visibility
