An established and successful medical communications agency is looking for a Senior Medical Writer with Oncology experience to join their expert team. With offices in London and Manchester this role offers flexible hybrid and remote working options.
As SMW, you will be a key scientific voice on accounts, leading the development of clear, accurate and engaging content that translates complex data into compelling narratives for diverse audiences. You will contribute directly to medical affairs and publications programmes, working closely with account and scientific colleagues to ensure scientific integrity and strategic alignment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the planning, writing and review of high-quality medical communications and publications across oncology indications.
- Take ownership of key projects, ensuring scientific accuracy, clarity and alignment with client objectives and compliance requirements.
- Provide scientific leadership on accounts, contributing to strategic planning for medical affairs and publications programmes.
- Mentor and support junior writers, offering guidance on content development, scientific rigour and best practice in medical communications.
- Collaborate closely with client services, scientific and editorial colleagues to deliver cohesive, impactful programmes.
- Communicate complex scientific and clinical data in an accessible way for different audiences, including healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience within a medical communications agency at Senior Medical Writer level.
- Strong scientific background with extensive knowledge and understanding of oncology; a PhD is advantageous.
- Experience delivering a variety of outputs across medical affairs and publications.
- Superb leadership and communication skills, with the ability to guide projects and mentor colleagues confidently.
- In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and how medical communications support wider clinical and commercial objectives.
