The role We are recruiting experienced Support Workers to support children and young people with additional needs. We are specifically looking for people who already have experience working with children and young people with additional needs, and who are confident supporting children with autism / Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities, and behaviours that challenge.
This role requires someone who is calm, patient, reliable and able to build positive relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries. Previous experience supporting children or young people is essential.
What you will be doing Providing person-centred support based on the individual needs of the child or young person.
Supporting children and young people with autism, learning difficulties/disabilities and additional needs.
Supporting children who may display behaviours that challenge.
Following individual care, support, behaviour and risk-management plans relevant to the placement.
Using agreed proactive, de-escalation and behaviour-support strategies.
Supporting communication, emotional regulation, positive engagement, independence and everyday life skills.
Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Recognising, recording and reporting safeguarding concerns in line with organisational procedures.
Completing clear and accurate records relating to support provided.
Communicating appropriately with colleagues, families and professionals involved in the childs support.
Essential requirements Previous experience working directly with children or young people with additional needs.
Experience supporting autism.
Experience supporting learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities.
Experience supporting individuals who display behaviours that challenge.
An Enhanced DBS certificate that is currently registered with the DBS Update Service, subject to the employer confirming it is suitable for the specific role and completing its own checks.
A driving licence that allows you to drive in the UK.
Regular access to a vehicle for work.
Confidence following safeguarding procedures, individual support plans and risk-management guidance.
Reliability, patience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
