Job description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join a growing SHEQ team, supporting major construction and infrastructure projects across the region.
The successful candidate will provide senior-level health and safety advice, support project teams and help drive a strong, proactive safety culture.
Previous experience working in the water sector is desirable for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert H&S advice to project and SHEQ teams.
- Support the implementation of policies, procedures, risk controls and management systems.
- Lead and support audits, inspections and SHEQ assurance activities.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Work closely with project teams and clients to identify and manage risks.
- Monitor performance data, identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Support compliance with UK H&S legislation, CDM and relevant HSE guidance.
- Promote continuous improvement and sustainable ways of working.
- Provide coaching and guidance to colleagues at all levels.
Essential:
- Significant H&S experience within the construction sector.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Good understanding of HSE guidance and construction best practice.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent occupational safety qualification.
- Construction-related H&S qualification.
- Appropriate professional H&S membership.
- Willingness to travel across regional project sites.
Desirable:
- Water, utilities or infrastructure experience.
- Experience with ISO 45001 or similar management systems.
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
- CSCS card and full UK driving licence.
- Chartered/Certified IOSH membership.
- Strong communication, leadership and influencing skills.
