Learning Support Assistant

Job description

Reeson Education is looking for an experienced and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs within a mainstream primary school in Wandsworth Town.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them access learning, develop independence and reach their potential.

The successful candidate will work with KS2-aged children with SEN, providing tailored support throughout the school day. Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs is essential.

The SEN Teaching Assistant Role

Provide 1:1 and small-group support for KS2 pupils with SEN.

Help children access classroom learning and the wider curriculum.

Support pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.

Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs.

Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement.

Support positive behaviour using appropriate strategies.

Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team.

Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant

Previous experience supporting children with SEN is essential.

Experience working within a primary school is highly desirable.

Confident supporting KS2-aged pupils with additional needs.

Patient, calm and nurturing, with a proactive approach.

Able to build positive and trusting relationships with children.

Reliable and committed to a full-time position.

Available to start ASAP.
