Job description

Looking to make a difference in a young person’s life?

Whether you’re an experienced LSA, a graduate, support worker, sports coach, youth worker, care worker or simply someone who wants to make a positive impact, we’d love to hear from you.

Quokka Education is supporting a mainstream secondary school in the Gosport area to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to join their SEND team. This is to start from November 1st on a full-time basis.

The school has recently celebrated its best ever GCSE results, making this a great time to join a supportive and ambitious school community.

No previous school experience is essential. What matters most is that you’re proactive, supportive and able to build positive relationships with young people.

What you’ll be doing

The role will involve supporting students with additional needs within their normal mainstream classes. You’ll work with different students and year groups, providing a mixture of 1:1 and small-group support.

You’ll be expected to:

  • Support students with a range of additional learning needs
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support within lessons
  • Be proactive in identifying when students need additional help
  • Build positive and consistent relationships with young people
  • Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning
  • Work closely with classroom teachers and the school’s SEND team

What you’ll gain through Quokka Education

Alongside your placement, you’ll receive:

  • Experience days before you begin
  • Free CPD modules to strengthen your classroom skills
  • Practical classroom toolkits and SEND training
  • Ongoing guidance and regular check-ins
  • Opportunities to progress into teacher training through our partner schools
  • Competive pay

We recruit people with the right attitude and provide the confidence and knowledge you need before you step into the classroom.

Who this role suits

We’d particularly like to hear from:

  • Experienced Learning Support Assistants
  • Graduates considering a career in education
  • Support workers and care workers
  • Sports coaches
  • Youth workers
  • People with experience supporting children or young adults
  • Anyone with the right attitude who wants to make a genuine difference to young people
