ASAP

We are looking for a motivated, patient, and resilient PE Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEMH school in Bromley.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate or aspiring education professional with a passion for sport and supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will use physical education and sporting activities to help pupils build confidence, develop emotional regulation, improve teamwork, and engage positively with education.

As a PE Teaching Assistant, you will support the delivery of PE lessons and structured sporting activities, working closely with teachers to engage pupils who may experience emotional or behavioural challenges. You will help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment, encourage participation, promote positive behaviour, and build trusting relationships with pupils. You will also support pupils in developing resilience, self-esteem, and essential social skills through sport.

Requirements:

A strong academic background; a degree in Sport, Sports Science, Physical Education, Psychology, or a related subject is desirable.
Previous experience working with children or young people through coaching, mentoring, education, or youth work is desirable.
A genuine passion for sport and using physical activity to support young people's development.
An understanding of, or interest in, supporting pupils with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to managing challenging behaviour.
Ability to encourage teamwork, emotional regulation, and positive engagement.
Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is advantageous.
Reliable, proactive, and committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
If you're a passionate, energetic, and resilient individual who believes in the power of sport to improve confidence, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing, we'd love to hear from you.
