Flexible Agency Support Workers

Job description

Principle Care Agency Ltd is looking for dependable, compassionate and adaptable agency support workers to provide shift cover across children's services in Powys, primarily around Newtown and surrounding areas.
This is a role for people who bring warmth and professionalism to different settings, quickly build positive relationships, follow plans and procedures, and stay calm when a child needs reassurance or support. Shifts may include days, evenings, waking nights, sleep-ins, weekends, bank holidays, planned support or urgent cover, depending on service requests and your skills and availability.
We are not looking for someone who simply fills a shift. A calm response, a choice offered, a child listened to, a concern acted on or a good handover can make a real difference.

Provide safe, nurturing and child-centred support in line with the child's plan and the host service's procedures.
Support children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, including personal care where required and within your training and competence.
Help children communicate, make choices, build independence, enjoy activities and take part in everyday life.
Use agreed communication and positive behaviour support approaches; respond to distress calmly and without judgement.
Safeguard children, recognise concerns and report them immediately through the correct route.
Keep clear records, provide reliable handovers and work respectfully with the permanent team.
Adapt to different settings while knowing when to ask questions, raise concerns and seek help.

Relevant experience working with children or young people in residential, respite, disability or other appropriate support settings.
Enhanced DBS including a children's barred-list check, meeting the framework's requirement for evidence dated within the last 12 months, verified before deployment.
Two satisfactory, verified references, including one from your current or most recent employer, addressing suitability to work with children.
Verified identity, right to work, CV/full employment history and evidence of qualifications and training.
Social Care Wales registration or evidence that you are in the process of registration.
Safeguarding training and role-specific training/competency required for the shift.
