Phonics Teaching Assistant | Part-Time Teaching Assistant | Long-Term Role | Haringey, North London

Reeson Education is seeking a dedicated Phonics Teaching Assistant for a long-term, part-time opportunity at a mainstream primary school in Haringey. This role is ideal for an experienced Phonics Teaching Assistant who is passionate about early literacy and helping pupils develop the essential reading skills they need to succeed.

Working two days per week, Wednesday and Thursday, you will support pupils with phonics development, helping them build confidence in recognising sounds, blending words and developing their early reading skills.

The Role - Phonics Teaching Assistant

As a Phonics Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

Delivering phonics support to individuals and small groups.
Supporting pupils with sound recognition, blending and segmenting.
Reinforcing phonics strategies introduced by the class teacher.
Helping pupils develop fluency, confidence and accuracy in early reading.
Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
Creating a positive, engaging and supportive learning environment.
Working collaboratively with teachers to help pupils overcome barriers to learning.

Requirements

To be considered for this Phonics Teaching Assistant role, you should have:

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school.
Experience delivering phonics interventions or supporting early reading.
A good understanding of phonics teaching methods.
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage young learners.
A patient, encouraging and proactive approach.
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Reeson Education.
