As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other members of the school team to provide tailored support that enables pupils to access learning, build positive relationships and achieve their individual goals. Assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting activities to meet individual learning needs.

Helping pupils develop communication, social interaction and emotional regulation skills.

Encouraging independence, confidence and positive participation in learning.

Supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviours, using calm and consistent approaches.

Building trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, supported and understood.

Working collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to ensure pupils receive consistent, effective support.

Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining a structured, inclusive learning environment.

Supporting pupils with their personal development and celebrating their progress and achievements.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is essential.

A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them reach their potential.

Patience, empathy and resilience when dealing with challenging situations.

The ability to adapt your approach to suit different learning styles, communication needs and behaviours.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

A proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Experience supporting pupils with autism, communication difficulties or additional behavioural needs would be particularly beneficial.
