1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support - Bexleyheath

Location: Bexleyheath, London Borough of Bexley
Start Date: January 2027
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Salary: £100-£115 per day, depending on experience

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for a resilient, compassionate and proactive 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs at a primary school in Bexleyheath.

This position offers the opportunity to become a consistent, trusted adult in a child's school life, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop strategies to manage their emotions.

What you'll be doing:

Providing consistent 1:1 support during lessons and throughout the school day.

Helping the pupil recognise and regulate their emotions.

Implementing positive behaviour support strategies.

Supporting engagement with classroom activities and learning.

Encouraging positive relationships with peers and staff.

Working alongside the teacher and SENCO to create a supportive learning environment.

What we're looking for:

Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs, ADHD or additional learning needs.

A calm, patient and positive approach.

Confidence in responding to challenging situations sensitively.

Strong relationship-building skills.

A genuine commitment to helping children reach their potential.

Experience with trauma-informed practice, de-escalation strategies or positive behaviour support would be particularly beneficial.
